The parameter is incorrect error message when installing SP1 for Windows 7 x64

Hi everyone,

I've recently reinstalled Windows 7 x64 onto my machine. The install was successful without any errors. I was also able to install many updates without any errors and the computer is running well. However, when I try to install SP1, I am getting a "parameter is incorrect" error message. The full error message is "Windows 7 x64 SP1 installation failed: Error:ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER(0x80070057)."

I tried many different solutions including removing the update files and the update history in the update folder. I've also followed all of the instructions in this thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/windows-7-x64-sp1-installation-failed/c233d5b4-c252-43c7-a719-1813aecfb8e1. When running diagnostics, no errors are found.

Is there anything else that I can try? Would it be worth attempting a clean install of Windows 7 again?

Thank you very much in advance!

I decided to try reinstalling Windows 7 from scratch. Immediately after installing, I manually installed SP1 and it worked correctly.
