Hello,

I have Windows 7 Professional and I keep having a problem with it updating.

I went to my Update History and found "Error Code C0000005" after I tried to install the update again.

What should I do next? Any help is appreciated, cheers.

    Resolution

If you are not equipped to debug this problem, you should use some basic troubleshooting techniques. •Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.

    Source: Bug Check Code 0x7E

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff559239(v=vs.85).aspx

The extract quoted above does not mean that the BIOS is the cause of the crashes. It is just one of the things to check.

You may update your OptiPlex 9010 System BIOS to version A16:

    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/optiplex-9010?driverId=Y45NN&fileId=3290193789&osCode=W764&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI#

Updating the BIOS is not without risk so you should back up your data files to external media as a precaution before updating. Print the installation instructions before downloading. They are to be found on the page accessed by the previous link.

Update the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver to version 11.0.0.1032:

    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/optiplex-9010?driverId=02PTJ&fileId=3290048742&osCode=W764&languageCode=en&categoryId=SA#

Please let me know how you get on.

Hello Gerry, sorry for my late reply. Here are the skydrive links you requested.

    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=E95DCC513310B66C%21113

I've also include a fourth file for you to look at. This text document shows information when the system attempts to start up repair and then fails. If I boot the computer again and begin in regular Windows Mode it tells me that the system has unexpectedly recovered and gives me the information in said text document.

thanks in advance for your time

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your Sky Drive and post a link here.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files.
