    Hi Iman,

I would like to inform you that the Acer Aspire 8930G doesn’t have drivers for Windows 8.1. So you can uninstall the graphics card drivers and install them in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

    To do so:

    Step 1:

You may try to uninstall and reinstall the graphics card and check if that helps.

    To uninstall device

    a.  Press “Windows Logo” + “X”.

    b. Click on “Device Manager”.

    c. The Device Manager will then display a list of installed devices in the right pane of the console.

    e. Expand the category for Display Adapter.

    f. Right-click the device and select Uninstall.

    g. dialog box will pop up asking you to confirm ‘Uninstall’. Click OK to proceed.

    Step 2:

Once you uninstall the graphics card driver, I suggest you to logon to the computer manufacturer website and install the drivers in compatibility mode.

You can download the driver from the following link.

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

You can follow the link given below to install the driver in compatibility mode.

    Hello,

Thanks for the advice but I did manage to get it working.

I went to Acer website and downloaded the control panel and drivers for the GPU which is Nvidia GT (written on the laptop chassis!)

Pleased to report this worked the first time and the resolution changed almost immediately as the install was taking place.

Looks great too and the games run like a charm, pardon the pun!

This windows 8.1 upgrade is great.
