I have a machine that windows explorer keeps crashing.

I've enabled user dumps and have a dump file. Not sure how  I should attach to this post.

I've done reboots, machine is x64 fully updated.

it has kaspersky workstation 10 installed.

some searches will work, but most do not.

happens when i search on the local hard drive, and when searching network storage.

There are two potential suspects the DropboxExt64.24.dll (from Dropbox) and the swdocumentmgr.dll (from SolidWorks):

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for DropboxExt64.24.dll

*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for DropboxExt64.24.dll

Unable to load image C:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v4.0.30319_64\mscorlib\abf62e6545d2802fc60286678a67e6bf\mscorlib.ni.dll, Win32 error 0n2

*** WARNING: Unable to verify checksum for mscorlib.ni.dll

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for swdocumentmgr.dll

*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for swdocumentmgr.dll

Probably caused by : msvcrt.dll ( msvcrt!terminate+1e )

The swdocumentmgr.dll has ben implicated with Explorer crashing with "searches" before such as in the following link:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/6ff03aab-3eb9-40c1-8c4d-f56929340af6/explorer-crashes-in-windows-7-pro-during-network-search?forum=itprovistaapps

Can you try the following:

Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared folder and right-click the swdocumentmgr.dll and rename the swdocumentmgr.dll to swdocumentmgr.old

Log out and log back in.

Does the error still occur?

    Hi Allannmorris,

Have you made any changes to your computer?

I can understand the frustration when things don’t work as expected.

This issue can be caused due to any of the following issues:

•You may be using an outdated or corrupted video driver

•System files on your PC may be corrupt or mismatched with other files

•You may have a Virus or Malware infection on your PC

•Some applications or services running on your PC may be causing Windows Explorer to stop working

I suggest you try the steps from the articles mentioned below.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to try installing the Hotfix and check if it helps.

Windows Explorer crashes randomly in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2638018/en-us

If your problem still exists, proceed to Step 2.

    Step 2:

Error: Windows Explorer has stopped working

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2694911/en-us

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

**Note:**After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".

**System Restore disclaimer:**When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

    Data loss Warning:

I highly recommend **backing up all of your important files and folders onto an external storage device** before attempting any type of OS repair or upgrade.

    Additional Information:

    Windows Explorer has stopped working

Can you make the dump file available (provide link) via a public folder on Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):
