Webcam stopped working, error code: 45.

Original Title: Re-install built in webcam?

I have a Dell I5RV-3812BLK 15.6" i3-3227U 4gb 500GB laptop with windows 8.1 and a 1.0MP HD webcam. 

My built in webcam stopped working recently so I went to the devices manager and it said the camera was not connected and gave me the code error 45. It is built in so I don't quite understand this. I couldn't find out how to reconnect it and it didn't show up when I ran a search to add a device under devices and printers. A few websites said to uninstall and restart but that only made it worse. Now it's not under the hardware manager and I still can't find it when the add a device searched my computer. I need to re-install and hopefully reconnect my webcam; I use it on a pretty regular basis for overseas business meetings. Is there any way I can do this or should I take it in and have it looked at?

    Hi ChelseaCarr,

    Error: This hardware device is not connected to the computer (Code 45) will occur if hardware device is not properly connected to the computer. The only solution is reconnecting the device (web camera) to the respective port.

    As the web camera failed to detect when you scan for the hardware, there is a chance that

    web camera was disconnected from its motherboard port. I would suggest you to contact Dell support and ask for their help.
