Hi I have Windows 8.1 64 bits and i recently change to an SSD. Since yesterday windows automatic maintenance icon is showing and saying that is running maintenance. That was like 18 hours ago. I'd try to disable it in the task scheduler but it is still showing off. Thats it , thanks

In that case, you can disable the Windows Automatic Maintenance and re-enable it at the time of your convenience.

To disable Windows Automatic Maintenance, follow the steps below:

  1. Log on to your Windows 8.1 device using your administrator account.
  2. Press Windows + W keys and type Task Schedule.
  3. Open Task Scheduler.
  4. Locate and select Task Scheduler Library.
  5. Under Task Scheduler Library, select Microsoft, Windows, and then Task Scheduler.
  6. Right click Idle Maintenance and select Disable.
  7. Right click Regular Maintenance and select Disable.
  8. Close the Task Scheduler windows, and restart the device to allow changes to take effect.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your issue to us.

It is possible that the task is not actually running but you still see the display as there is no method determined for considering the task as complete.

Please refer to the suggestions from Leeland Clay replied on August 15, 2013 in the following thread and try to resolve your issue.

    Hello Hamilton

Maintenance constantly runs (or at least runs whenever I am using the laptop.)

I leave running over night but it doesn’t go off.

I go in and turn off but it comes on again.

I change settings to come on at midnight so it should finish by the time I get to work but it resets and runs again.

I’ve gone through the suggests and links from your page with no joy.

I understand the reason for it being there. I understand why and what it is doing but it should not always be on.

    Rgds
