Touchpad, Keyboard and wireless driver problems

Hi i am pulling my hair out over this problem after spending hours trying to solve it. I will explain as detailed as i can what happens.

Until recently my laptop was working perfectly, i was running windows 8.1.

i then installed windows updates and things started acting strange.

My laptops touchpad will randomly stop working along with the keyboard and wireless driver (the wireless icon changes from signal to a red X).

i did a factory reset and reinstalled everything hoping that would solve the problem incase i had gotten a virus. it took me roughly 7 hours to reinstall everything including the updates. But it still did not solve the problem.

So i thought maybe its an update problem, so again factory reset and updated everything except reinstalling windows 8.1. It started working fine without the windows 8 updates for a week, but then i installed the updates and i started getting problem on windows 8

I have a Packard Bell Easynote TE11HC. Currently running on windows 8 with all updates installed and drivers updated.

Its frustrating because everything works fine and it just randomly happens. putting computer to sleep and reloading restarts the drivers (im assuming its drivers) but this is no good because i use laptop for work as a DJ and i cannot do it when it randomly cuts off my keyboard touchpad during a gig

If i plug in a mouse the mouse works, but keyboard still wont work. i was scared on reinstalling windows 8.1 but that doesnt seem to be the problem, so im assuming it was an update during last 2 or 3 weeks that has cause the problem.

Only thing is i dont know which one so cant pinpoint it to uninstall just that update (computer doesnt have the problem if i run my laptop on factory settings without the updates but doesnt run as good without the updates). Anyone have any idea how to solve this? or what is causing it, because i have tried everything i know.

Thanks in advance

(on another note i have 2 HID Keyboard devices listed in the device manager, uninstalling one however temporarily turns off keyboard and when i reboot both are still there

i also have 2 network adapters Microsoft kernel debug network adaptor and my Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 wireless network adaptor in mice and pointing devices i have ps/2 compatible mouse. however i unstalls synaptics pointing device thinking that may have been the problem. seems its not the problem but i dont need it nontheless

oh and there are no exclamation marks next to the drivers so everything is assumingly working correct

Hello Peter,

Thank you for sharing this information with us.

As per the information that you've provided above, I would only suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the relevant drivers (touchpad, keyboard and network) from the computer manufacturer's website.

Update the driver for Devices.

I would first suggest you to update the drivers for the sound devices on your computer and check if this helps to fix the problem.

  1. Access Device Manager by pressing Windows + X.
  2. Select and click on Device Manager in the list.
  3. Scroll an locate the devices that you've to update.
  4. Right click on the device and select Uninstall. Also place a check mark beside the option “delete driver files for the device”

Once you’ve uninstalled these device drivers from your computer, I would suggest you to install the drivers from the links provided below.

Download Center (ALL Products) (Please select the appropriate category and model number from the list.)

Do get back to us with the status of the issue. We'll be glad to assist you.

Hi, Unfortunately that is almost impossible since my recent installed updates include Everything from when the computer was bought over a year ago, which is  over 120 updates. However i can confirm this has only happened recently within the passed 3 weeks, so any updates 4 weeks ago i installed would be great to know. Not including any windows 8.1 specific updates however since i dont have 8.1 installed anymore

i try looking at the updates  but it only says what date i installed them and not the date they were released and since there are so many of them on the same date because they were all done together its like looking for a needle in a haystack (not that i have tried)

    Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community, we are glad to assist you.

Ideally, Windows Update do not cause issues with the computer. However, in few scenarios installing an update can clash with one or the other software installed on the computer and that can result in few software or computer to not perform as expected.

As you have mentioned that the issue occurred after installing specific Windows Updates, I would request you to provide us the KB article number of the updates which were installed recently.

The KB article number which you provide will help us in identifying if there are any known issues related to those updates.

To view recently installed updates on the computer, I would request you to refer the link provided below:

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thank you.
