Help Help Help Multiboot computer with 4 Windows operating systems. Lost links in startup screen to start up each OS !

All 4 operating systems, Vista Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are installed and intact. They have all been working fine for much longer

than Windows 8.1 has been out. I have the original installation disks for all 4 OS. I did something wrong in the msconfig box  last night and all at once all four

links disappeared. I can reinstall Windows 8.1 easily getting that link back, as there is no personal data involved. The same with Windows 8. The other two

would be a bear as they have been in  use for several years and are loaded with PD that might be lost.

There must be some way to reestablish the links. Please Please let me know of any ideas you have.

Thanks in advance, Brad

    Hi,

To which operating system are you loading now?

I would suggest you to check if you are able to see all the operating systems in the System Configuration by following the steps:

    1. Press Windows key + R on the keyboard.
    2. Type “msconfig” without quotes and press Enter.
    3. Under the Boot tab, check if all the operating systems are listed and see which operating system is selected as default.

Once you re-install the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 operating system, you will not be able to install Windows 7 or Windows Vista. You will not be able to reinstall a previous version of operating system from a new version of operating system.

Reply us with details so that we can assist you further.

    Rohit, thanks for answering .

I have only Windows 8 going now, because it is the one that I reinstalled after the accident.

I followed your instructions and the only one listed is Windows 8 which, of course, is the one selected as default as it is the only one.

The other three OS are not listed and that is my problem. How do I go about getting them relisted?

Rohit. Also, it is this same msconfig box that I was fiddling with when I caused all 4 listed operating systems to disappear (the accident).

Under the General tab, I changed the selection from Selective to Normal.

When I went back to Selective, all the OS that had been  shown disappeared.
