Original Title: I cannot load webpages.

I have a HP 2000. All of a sudden today I am unable to load webpages. I am connected to the internet but nothing will load. A diagnostic says that

Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding.

I tried a system restore but I also get a message that says

an unspecified error occurred during system restore error 0x810000204.

I have no idea what to do. This laptop is only 3 months old.

device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding.

Looks like a symptom for a misconfigured firewall.  I think the message probably indicates the DNS is working but when a request goes out to the desired address there is no response.  The question is where is it being blocked?  In the case of  ICMP  we can use  tracert  to try to determine that but there is no similar method for getting an end-to-end  trace  for  HTTP.  (Incidents like this make me wonder why not?)  Tracing with Fiddler2 might help.

No none of that worked. I use a wireless connection but I did try connecting with an Ethernet cable but that also didn't work.  When using the 2nd method above the command prompt screen said no operation can be performed while the media is disconnected.

    Hi Bouyank,

This issue can occur by incorrect DNS settings.

Please follow the methods mentioned below:

    1. Are you using a wired or wireless Internet connection?
    2. Which browser are you using to access website?

Please reset the router and check.  Remove the power cord from the router. After all lights on the router have gone out, wait at least 10 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the router.

If it doesn’t help, please follow the methods mentioned below:

    Method 1:

I would recommend you to change the Preferred DNS server and check if it helps.

    1. Press Windows + R keys to open Run window**,**type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
    2. Right-click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click Properties.
    3. Click to select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
    4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the Preferred DNS server to 208.67.222.222
    5. Click OK twice to complete the modification.

Note: If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220.

Method 2: Flush your computer's DNS cache.

    Follow the steps:

    1. Press Windows Key + X.
    2. Select **** Command Prompt (Admin).
    3. At the command prompt, type the following commands. Press Enter after each command.

    ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew

Please reply us on the status of the issue to assist you further.
