Win 8.1, missing SM Bus Controller driver

Yesterday I upgraded a recently built Intel 4670 (ASUS Z87-A motherboard) system from Win 8 to Win 8.1. Upgrade went well and system performed fine afterward. Today I booted up and discovered  the system could not detect USB ports, including my mouse. Troubleshooting says "USB Port Hub (xHC1) has a driver problem" and "SM Bus Controller doesn't have a driver". However, Windows unable to automatically fix the problem. I suspect I will not be alone in having this problem. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Hi J TMansfield,

This issue can be caused when you don't have updated or latest drivers installed on the computer.

Please update the latest chipset drivers manually from the manufacturer:

Please let us know the results after you have installed the latest drivers appropriately.
