I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop less than 4 months old  with win 8.1. When I do a search for movie maker.....zilch, zero, nothing! I have downloaded essentials three times and still it isn't there. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Hello LeHottTheSir,

I'm sorry to know that the issue persists on your end. For troubleshooting purposes, please uninstall your Windows Essentials using a CMD (command) line parameter. Note that this is different from the regular process of uninstalling a program as this process deletes all sub folders on your system resetting every set up you made to default. To do this, please follow the instructions on the link below:

**How to uninstall Windows Essentials via CMD**

Afterwards, reinstall Essentials using an offline installer by following the steps that was provided by MVP

Vasudev on July 16, 2014.

In case there were no changes after following these steps, we would need you to try a different user on your computer that has administrator privileges. Uninstall/re-install the program using the new user account. This will help us isolate the issue further.

We'll wait for your response.

Thank you.

Hello NevFoster,

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. I understand that your computer detects that you have Windows Essentials but, cannot find Movie Maker. I will assist you on your inquiry.

First, try finding Movie Maker by clicking the Windows key on your keyboard and type Movie Maker. Can you see the program?

If there are no results, please try to uninstall Windows Essentials by following the steps on this **link**. Afterwards, re-install **Windows Essentials 2012**

In case the issue persists, please provide us the exact message that you receive when you're trying to install the program. In addition, can you try installing Windows Essentials on a different user on your computer to see if the issue only happens on the specific user account? (Please use an account that has administrator privileges)

Let us know the results afterwards.

Thank you.

Cesar, I have done what you said... Or at least I've tried to.

When I tried going to %programfiles%\Windows Live\Installer I found out that I DO NOT have the Windows Live folder. And, yes, I DO use the 32-bit Windows 7.

Anyways, Whenever I try installing Windows Essentials, It says " Done! ".

And still. There is noMovie Maker or Windows Live folder.
