Original Title:

Boot Problems in 8.1

When I boot my 8.1 and sign in, I consistently get the two "module not found" errors.  What are these and how will their absence affect the PC?

Hi Dac,

cpp file extension is associated with programming language like C++.

On my research I have found little information on that file, so it is probably a left over Startup Entry from Malware that has been removed by your Security Programs.

Have you performed any actions with programing software prior to this issue?

I would suggest you to try these steps and check if that helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest running a full scan with your anti-virus/anti-malware software installed on the computer and see if you find anything. If needed you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 2:

This could be happening if any of the background programs is conflicting with the smooth running of your computer. To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow step 3 mentioned in the article to boot the computer to normal startup.

You can also try locating programs related to programing like c++ in the startup folder. Below is the screen shoot where you can see the start-up tab. Click on the same and try to locate the same if available.

On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

Check the issue status and let us know about the same.
