Integrated webcam disabled

Hi,

My integrated webcam stopped working, now all applications that require it say no webcam is detected and to turn it on. I went into device manager and 'image devices' and said I need to plug the device in, Then I clicked "disable" hoping to be able to reinstall but now can't find it anymore.

In the image, I click "show hidden devices" but "image devices" is not showing now. It has worked previously on Skype. It is a HP Pavilion G6 Windows 8 i5. How can I get it working??

Please Help!

    Hi Daniel,

I understand that the integrated webcam has stopped working.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue.

    1.      Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

    2.      On which application or program do you get the message no webcam is detected?

This issue may occur if the webcam software is missing or if the driver is missing.

    Let us follow these methods:

    Method 1.

I would suggest you to follow the steps under “Troubleshooting problems with your webcam” from this article and check if this helps.

Camera app and webcams: FAQ: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/camera-app-faq

    Method 2.

You may run the hardware troubleshooter and check.

    Follow these steps:

    a) Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

    b) Type troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.

    c) Click hardware and sound and run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

    d) Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the webcam is visible under Device Manager.

    Method 3.

You may download the Cyberlink YouCam Software from this link and install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if this helps. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.
