original title: Winodws 8.1 Upgrade Problem

Hello

I upgraded Windows 8 to 8.1 earlier today, and the process finished without any trouble. However, a few minutes after reloading, Windows forced me to log off. When I logged back on, there was only a blank screen with a cursor. I activated task manager and a warning appeared stating, "?CreateRect@Value@DirectUI@@SAPEAV12@HH... could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\System32\Windows.UI.Immersive

    Hi Mahavir,

Did you have an start button program installed on the computer prior to the upgrade to Windows 8.1? If yes, then uninstall it and check.

Try running the System file checker scan and check if it helps. SFC scan helps to fix the corrupted system dll files on Windows.

    • Type command prompt in the Search charms and right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
    • Type SFC /SCANNOW and press enter.
    • Wait for the scan to complete, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Also refer to the suggestions given by users who were able to fix this issue on their computer.
