Problems when Installing Windows Imaging Component

I need to install the Windows Imaging Component on a Windows Server 2008. I have tried to install the following:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=1385

When I ran the setup an error popped up saying:

'Setup could not find the update.inf file needed to update your system.'

  1. Does anyone know what the problem is?
  2. Is this compatible with Windows 2008 OS?
  3. Are WIC and WIM the same thing?

Thanks and Regards.

Yes it is a 64 bit Operating system.

Ok if this is not supported for Windows 2008, does anyone know were I can download a version which is supported by Windows Server 2008?

    Thanks.

    1. Wasn't able to find anything regarding your issue but make sure you have a 64bit operating system on your server.
    2. According to the link you provided the supported Operating Systems are:

    Windows Server 2003 R2 Datacenter x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition , Windows Server 2003 x64 editions, Windows XP 64-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition 64-bit Windows XP SP2 or 64-bit Windows Server 2003

    1. WIC and WIM are not the same things.
