I recently had a windows update and since then my printer will not print.  Say firewall blocking printer.  When I'm on the printer program it says network not connected but on windows it shows it as being connected.

I had the same problem with Windows 10.  After the Windows update the printer wouldn't print from my computer while the printer still worked fine on other computers.  Turned the fire wall off.  The printer shows on the add printer list and is highlighted green but it can't be selected!

Screwed around for hours trying Windows and Brother trouble shooting and after a while I noticed that low and behold one of the trouble shooter had the printer print out the printer data info so the computer can run the printer but I suspect something in the update is hiding the printer from normal printer access!

Tried going back to the saved states before the updates, May 3 and 5, 2017 I think but neither would work.  Complained about a file problem I think.

Just been waiting hoping Windows will have enough complaints that they will send out another update that will fix the problem.

    Hi Jodie,

    • What is the make and model of the printer?

I would suggest you to add the print spooler service to an outbound exception in Windows Firewall and check if it helps.

**Allow a program to communicate through Windows Firewall**

You may also make sure enable file and printer sharing is turned on.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-vista/enable-file-and-printer-sharing

    Note: Applies to Windows 7.

If the issue persists, you may temporarily disable the antivirus software and check if it helps.

Warning: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope this information helps. If you have any concerns, please let us know.
