Hello,

I need to know about Win Virtual Desktop. As a single personal user, can I get this service? Will it be cheaper than Win 10 VM? And if I get an eligible license for Win Virtual Desktop (e.g. MS 365), virtual desktop will be completely free or are there any hidden or other charges?

Thanks

If you already owned a MS 365 eligible license you will be charged for WVD:

    • Compute costs of the Azure VM (charged for the time the VM is running)
    • Costs of the OS disk of Azure VM (monthly 24/7 as long as the VM exists)
    • Outgoing network traffic (from Azure to internet. Is usually neglected in terms of costs)

For Windows Virtual Desktop there are the following monthly costs:

    • Compute costs of the Azure VM (charged for the time the VM is running)
    • Costs of the OS disk of Azure VM (monthly 24/7 as long as the VM exists)
    • Windows 10 license costs (monthly 24/7 for instance via M365)

    For a Windows 10 VM

    • Compute costs of the Azure VM (charged for the time the VM is running)
    • Costs of the OS disk of Azure VM (monthly 24/7 as long as the VM exists)
    • Windows 10 license costs (monthly 24/7included in the price of the Azure VM)

The estimated prices for both options can be calculated:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/calculator/

The difference between these two option is more or less the access via Azure WVD Web Client.
