2013-10-12T02:33:48+00:00 I used the HP support assistant on the laptop with windows 8 and checked for any downloads for drivers and for windows updates and everything is up to date.
With the problems above I went to the HP web site then support then entered my computer and performed downloads of drivers.
I had viewed device manager and the yellow triangles covering multiple entries did not change.
yellow triangles remain covering one item under imaging devices (hp truevision HD), one item under other devices (unknown devices)....this is from uninstalling the HP fingerprint scanner driver, and two under sound, video and game controllers (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC, and Intel Display Audio.
So uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers did not correct the problems.
I had performed this with HP tech support several weeks ago and it was unsuccessful then and unsuccessful again now.
This is a brand new computer and has had numerous problems with freezing mouse cursor requiring power down when control alt delete does not open task manger, it had one blue screen, as well as previous loss of audio.
To correct the above problems I have already performed
a windows 8 system refresh
a windows 8 system reset
a windows 8 reinstallation from 4 external disks
Each time the system works well initially and then deteriorates. During the last windows 8 installation I attempted to delay the download of drivers and windows 8 updates to see if these were the source of the problems. I did not have enough information to make a conclusion. The loss of sound has reoccurred and removing and reinstalling the driver does not correct it.
I need to learn what is causing these problems and fix.
What can be learned from the information in the advanced tools system diagnostic report? How do these get fixed? I the only option now to reinstall the windows 8 os from the 4 external disks? If so how do I monitor better to see what is going wrong the next time around? I have viewed the Microsoft event viewer by checking the boxes for error, warning and critical and then viewing the displayed results. I have not used the Microsoft event viewer to view reports on applications as it indicates that it would generate too much data.
I don't remember if I used the Norton antivirus removal tool when the subscription expired. I am using Microsoft defender and have not had any malware. Would the Norton antivirus that remains interacting with Microsoft defender be a source for the problems or is it likely to be something else?
When I use the Microsoft event viewer there is often a link to open for more information and almost always there is no useable information there. The I copy and paste into google search and attempt to find more information. Many are taskhostex etc How do you workup these problems
