Error 1503, iTunes/AMDS

How is it after 4+ years this seemingly very common problem still doesn't have a definitive solution provided by either Microsoft or Apple? I just followed a thread and I couldn't believe what I was reading- try this, see if this works, have a go at this. I don't know if I'm missing something (it wouldn't be the first time!) but is there a answer to this that doesn't involve being a PhD in Computer Science?, or do I have to scratch around hoping to eventually stumble upon some kind of feasible fix?

I am sorry but you have to follow Apple's instructions for this as it is an Apple Product, not a Microsoft Product.

If you are having problems when following Apple's Information, I suggest that you ask in the Apple Community for assistance.

    Cheers.

Been at it for hours now , got all the apple stuff uninstalled but hit a brick wall as to how to install amds without iTunes. Still can't believe all this goes back to 2010 and there's folk like me going through the same ordeal (and I mean ordeal) as they were all that time ago. I've come to the conclusion that the 2 main players in this farce feel that the other is responsible and therefore neither of them has felt obliged to take responsibility and provide a solution.  I now understand why there are so many third-party agents out there, it's because the principals just aren't providing an adequate service so it's a good thing that there . I guess we're only customers, after all.

Thanks very much Bill, I'm off to uninstall anything Apple, and then reinstall AMDS (no room for iTunes). I presume that's OK? One way to find out ................

    Hi,

You need to ask Apple Communities about his matter.

But this may assist you too:

How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows:

And for general troubleshooting/problems with iTunes:

Uninstall everything as per Apple's instructions:

"Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

This is also the same list of what to remove as is what is in the above Apple link:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/msvcr80-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm

Or try this Program to remove it:

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo\_uninstaller\_free\_download.html

Then download and save iTunes to the Desktop > then right click  > select Run as Administrator to install.

If the advice already given does not fix it, please contact Apple Support for further assistance.
