Win7 Disk Cleanup Wizard addon

Hi All:

Windows 7 sent out an update in October which I just became aware of....Disk Cleanup Wizard addon lets users delete outdated Windows updates on Windows 7 SP1. I was doing a routine "disk cleanup" and discovered that when I ran it a second time and selected the "clean-up system files" tab, that it listed over 4 GBs of obsolete Windows updates that could be cleaned up! That's a pretty good hunk of space to put back to use. I then checked on all my Win7 pc's and all had over 4 GBs of old windows updates that could be removed. To see the Microsoft site article go to:

    After one year of using this disk cleanup addon, it still does not clean enough.

    My whole C drive  is now 49.5GB where windows = 28.0Gb and winsxs = 10.2GB

    Therefore just my Windows folder is using 56.6% of my whole 55.7GB SSD drive; leaving me 10.2GB of free space.

    I just ran that clean up disk tool with the system file cleanup option and it removed a total of 1MB !!!!

    I am pretty sure no one will ever fix this problem because Microsoft is pushing to have Windows-10 installed freely on every PC.  But not all software have been converted to Windows-10.

    I hvae 2 HD where my first drive is dedicated to O/S drives: windows-7 and Kubuntu. It is a 64Gb and after 2 years my C: drive is 31Gb and according to TreeSize free software, winsxs is at least 12Gb.  My C: drive hardly has any space used up by software since I install everyting on my 2nd HD.

    I ran your disk cleanup wizard and it said it freed 4Gb.  If I remember right, my C: drive was 31Gb and it still is now.  So :

    1. why does it say it cleanuped 4GB when I do not see the result of this ?
    2. why only 4GB out of 12Gb ?
    3. why can't microsoft come up with a better solution ?
    4. show me where it says on the Windows-7 software installation instruction that the PC requirement is more then 20Gb !   Lets say someone never adds any new software on his Windows-7. Well after 2 years of usage and updates, how much GB would his Winsxs folder us ?     Where does it say that to run Win-7 I have to have a +30Gb partition drive for Win-7 !   This is like doing false advertisement.

    To prove it, here is your windows-7 installation requirement link :

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements

    It says :

    If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

    • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
    • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

    Show me where it says my Win-7 hard disk has to be +30GB after 2 years !!!!!!!!!

    Is there any special warning notes about a high microsoft HD usage after 2 years (or even 1 year)???  No warnings at all. No mentions of this design flaw.

    I call this false advertisment and Microsoft should fix this before the Windows community decides to take legal actions against Microsoft.

    added info

    Here is what TreeSize shows me (in disk space order):

    C: drive = 36,072Gb

    Windows folder = 25,424Mb

    winsxs = 12,678Mg

    System32 = 5,263Mb

    Installer = 1,748.5Mb

    SysWOW64 = 1,339.9Mb

    Microsoft.NET = 1,002.4Mb

    Fonts = 341.1Mb

    SoftwareDistribution = 272,3Mb

    inf = 181.8Mb

    IME = 137Mb

    Logs = 133.3Mb

    ehome = 112.9Mb

    Help = 82.4Mb

    As you see, the top 10 disk biggest disk space usage is from Microsoft and not me !!!!
