Send a fax without waiting for dial tone

I'd like to send a fax without dialing the number. I would call the remote fax and when it answers, start sending and then hang up the phone. I use PCAnywhere this way. Can anyone tell me how to do this with Windows Fax?

Thanks

Thank you for your update on the issue.

As suggested by Mike Hall MVP, it is true that you cannot send a fax without the dial tone. Happens to me all the time. But seriously, I want to start sending without having the modem dial the number. I just want to hit 'send' and have it start the handshake. I do this with PC Anywhere and it works great. Like 'Voice First' or if you're behind a PBX - sometimes there's no dial tone - you just tell the modem not to wait but just to dial.

    Thanks for replying.

Thanks for your reply. I do have a fax and I can send them. It works well, when the fax initiates the call - goes off hook, hears the dial tone, and then dials the number.

I want to establish the call first - like 'Voice First' with other programs - and then tell it to send.

    Thanks again.

That would be like calling somebody and putting down the phone before you finished saying what you wanted the other person to know.

Analogue phone lines connecting to fax machines do NOT work anything like computers and are much slower.
