    Hi Graham,

I would ask you to post us the screen shot of the ‘Programs and features’ window, so that we can understand the issue better.

    Refer to:

Take a screen capture (print your screen)

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/take-screen-capture-print-screen#take-screen-capture-print-screen=windows-8

Note: Use the ‘insert image’ option given in the reply section of the post to attach the screen shot.

    Thanks.

Let's go through this again, previously when I opened control panel then clicked on programs then clicked on programs and features I would get a long list of installed programs (not just Microsoft programs) I could then check by date of installation or alphabetically the reason I want to do this is because when downloading and installing programs via the web you can get unwanted programs piggybacking with these downloads and also sometimes the only way to install something is to accept the scanning< cleanup, scanning programs and then delete them afterwards, but as it is I cannot do this as all I can see is about 31 installed programs, this is not working correctly

    Hi Graham,

Which program are you trying to find and uninstall from programs and features?

You may refer to the Microsoft KB article and check if it helps.

Uninstall, change or repair a program

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-8/uninstall-change-program

Important: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.

    Thanks.

Not what I was asking about, in W8 when you highlight the side bar (search, Setting,

Devices etc) and click on settings and then on programs - uninstall a program

previously I would get a list of programs to uninstall now when I do the same I

get a list of 27 programs mostly Microsoft, if in your scenario I want to

uninstall a program how do I do it?

    Hi Graham,

Only programs that were written for Windows will appear in Programs and Features. If you don't see the program listed, check the information that came with your program, or go to the manufacturer's website. Most programs install themselves in the C:\Program Files folder. Check this folder to see the programs that are installed.
