    Hi Henk,

Were there any changes (hardware or software) made to the computer prior to the issue?

I understand the frustration when things don’t work as expected.

There are a few different kinds of keyboards. The most common is a physical, external keyboard that you plug into your PC. A PC with a touchscreen also has a touch keyboard. When you’re using a Windows PC with a  touchscreen, tap in a text field or other area where you can type and the touch keyboard appears.

Windows also has On-Screen Keyboard (OSK), an Ease of Access tool. You can use OSK instead of relying on the physical keyboard to move around your PC and enter text. You don’t need a touchscreen to use On-Screen Keyboard. OSK displays a visual keyboard with all the standard keys. You can select keys using the mouse or another pointing device, or you can use a physical single key or group of keys to cycle through the keys on the screen.

Check if the issue occurs while using the On-screen keyboard.

    L.S.

It is a normal keyboard on by desk, not a touchscreen display and not an on screen keyboard.

So if youtake a look on the keyboard left of the 1/! key there is an accent-grave/tilde key. When I press the key you would expect a ` or ~. In staed the language on my taskbar changes. It's like having a typewriter without the letter E. So writing Franch and Spanish it is realy hard, because you do not use one keystroke but you have to use for keystrokes to {echo} an è.

So anybody knows how to reassign the tilde key to its actual function?

Thanks in advance. I hope to hear from a person and not an alien automatic translation machine.

(Using the international keyboard, and the languages French. Greek. English, Dutch German and Latin.Tilde `~ key)

    Thanks in advance,

Use the OSK as a diagnostic.  Are the keycaps showing the ones that you expect?  Are they showing what you are getting?

Also, you can add a keyboard and switch to it using  Win-Space or  Win-Shift-Space.   It would probably help to have the OSK open to check out what you are getting from a different keyboard layout too.   <eg>

    Good luck
