Windows update aborts with the following question.

this is a new Dell inspiron/15.

Microsoft nor Dell refuses to address the issue.

want $$ for premier support.

    Hi,

    I would appreciate if you provide the following details.

    1. Is the issue specific to any particular Windows Update?
    2. What is the exact/complete error message?
    3. Is your computer on a domain?
    4. What do you refer when you say "want $$ for premier support"?

    The error which you have mentioned is frequent for Hyper-V and not Virtual PC. You can also face this issue when you have any third party security software installed on your computer. You can follow the steps given below.

    Method 1: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

    Follow these steps to run Windows Update troubleshooter.

    1. Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
    2. Select Troubleshooting.
    3. Select View all on the top left corner.
    4. Run Windows update troubleshooter.

    Method 2: Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to fix the issue.

    Click on the link given below and follow the steps given in the section “Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012”

    it also freezes the boot at the login page, so thats a bit tricky to even get into the laptop.

    No, not yet.  I would have to install ENTRUST again and having had to build the laptop from teh factory default 4 times, its a bit of a risk.

    Do you work for Microsoft?

    • Is your computer on a domain? no
    • What do you refer when you say "want $$ for premier support"?
    • MS nor entrust will look at it without a paid for service
