Sharepoint Online subsites limit

Question

Hello,

I really like to confirm if the 2000 subsite limit per site collection, is a hard limit or a recommended one?

(Sharepoint 2019 have a 250.000 subsite limit)

I'm in a migration process from sharepoint 2010 to sharepoint online, and we have site collections with more than 2000 subsites...

According to my search, I think 2000 subsites limit per site collection is a recommended value in SharePoint Online.

Since the number is limited to 2000 in Microsoft article, we recommend you follow it.
