On our Server 2012 r2 File Server, I need to give a new network user access to the network home folder of a former user. Is there a way to do this without creating a share? What would be the best way to do this?

The former user has a lingering, limited role, so their account is still active, and they will be logging in occasionally.

    Hi,

We can grant second user permission to the home folder using following steps

    1. Right click the home folder and choose properties
    2. In Security tab, click Edit
    3. Add second user
    4. There are six standard permission types which apply to files and folders in Windows. For special permissions or advanced settings, click Advanced in Security tab.

Please note: The former user needs be online so the network home folder is accessible for second user.
