Original title: Bluetooth Error

I have a dell inspiron 15 with windows 8.1. After I installed 8.1 I was not able to connect to my cell phone via Bluetooth which had worked fine with 8. After troubleshooting I found these devices had errors: in Sound, video and game controllers the Bluetooth audio device says This device cannot start. (Code 10), in Bluetooth virtual devices both the Bluetooth LWFLT device and virtual Bluetooth support(include audio) say This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) Object Path Component was not a directory object. All of these device drivers are up to date. How can I fix this?

    Hi Bronsen,

    1. What is the exact model of the Dell computer?
    2. When you say “All of these device drivers are up to date”, did you install the Windows 8.1 drivers from Dell website?

     3. What is the make and model of the cell phone?

The Code 10 error is mainly related to hardware and device driver issues or due to compatibility issues between hardware and Windows 8.1.

Code 31 is related to the correct drivers not getting loaded.

Let's try the following steps and check.

    Method 1:

You may try running the Windows Updates and install all the available updates including the optional driver and software updates.

    Windows Update: Frequently Asked Questions

    Method 2:

You may try to run “Hardware and Device” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

    a. Press “Windows key + W” from the keyboard.

    b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the search box and hit Enter.

    c. Select “View all” option from the left panel.

    d. Select “Hardware and Device” from the list and follow On-screen instructions.

For further information, refer to the article:

Note: This applies to Windows 8.1 also.

    Method 3:

You may also refer to the Dell support website to check for Windows 8.1 drivers for all the problem devices.

    http://www.dell.com/support/

Also refer to the cell phone support and check for software updates for the cell phone.

If you don’t have Windows 8.1 drivers and facing issues to install Windows 8 drivers, you may try installing the drivers in Windows 8 compatibility mode and check.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

    c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu.

    d. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help.

I've been dealing with the same issue as well. That's why I've been preventing my laptop to update to 8.1 there is a way you can do that to prevent that. However, Microsoft ended support to Windows 8. I just un-hidden the update & updated to 8.1 because some features aren't working now & you can't download any apps from Windows Store unless your laptop is updated to 8.1

And yes, I'm 16 with Autism & such a genius at tech if your asking yourself.

The problem has been resolved. I went on Dell's website and downloaded the wireless driver for my computer, in my case the "Dell Wireless 1703 + Bluetooth."

    Hi Jason,

    Hi,

    1. Are you facing the issue while connecting any particular Bluetooth device?

Are you receiving the same error codes when the Bluetooth devices fail to connect?

    1. When you say “tried doing step 3 but Samsung has their own driver update program”, are you trying to install Windows 8.1 version of Bluetooth drivers?

You may try the following steps and check.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Bluetooth Drivers

Follow these steps to uninstall and reinstall the driver:

Step 1: Uninstall the Bluetooth Device Drivers

    a) Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    b) Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    c) Search for the Bluetooth device from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

    d) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer.

After the restart, you may open the Device Manager and then click on the “Scan for hardware changes” button at the top of the Device Manager window and check if Windows 8.1 detects the Bluetooth device and installs an appropriate driver for it automatically.

    Step 2:

Check the Windows updates for any latest driver updates.

You may also try running the Windows Updates and install all the available updates including the optional driver and firmware updates.

You may also refer to the article and try the steps provided for Bluetooth and check.

Why isn't Windows finding my Bluetooth or other wireless device?

I recently upgraded my Samsung all in one series 5 420i-a0.  The Bluetooth stopped functioning also.

I've tried the steps up above. None of them worked.  I've tried doing step 3 but Samsung has their own driver update program and I cannot download the drivers without using the program and that causes me not to be able to right click anything for properties. I'll trying going to the QUALCOMM and see if they offer the drivers to download.
