Cannot edit Local Group Policy

Hello,

I wanted to edit my Local Group Policy as a possible solution to the Win Store won't work over proxy network problem. At first it said it couldn't create the snap-in, but then I saw an article that told me to edit the Environment Variables under Path. I edited it and the "cannot create snap-in problem was solved, but the newly appeared folders under Computer and User Configuration are all empty.

Any help with this?

When I use the "Run" function this error message appears.

I use the search option to find the gpedit.msc file and when I open it, I see this.

    Hi Brandondu,

Please follow the methods mentioned below.

    Method 1:

System File Checker is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files.

    Method 2:

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to run Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure the computer is free from virus. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove virus, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note:

**1)**The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

**2)**If you run the virus scan the program that is infected with virus will get deleted. So you have to reinstall the program. Also if the files and folders are affected with virus then they might even get deleted.

Please let us know if the issue persists. We will be happy to assist you further.
