Azure SQL Database Scaling

Question

We've noticed the scaling time of the azure sql database (approx 200gb) differs daily (1 hour, 1.25 hrs and 2 hours). Typically its scaled from S0 to P4. Appreciate the larger the database the longer the scale process but is there any other advice on how to keep this process as short as possible?

Typically, it takes less than 1 minute per GB of space used while scaling from S0 to P4.
The duration that you mentioned is well within the expected time range.

Reducing I/O intensive operations during the scaling process can help shorten the overall time.
