Error code 0xc000014c - system registry file missing or corrupt - Windows 8/8.1

Hi!

I'm having troubles upgrading from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 on my regular computer. This message is what I get every time I try to start it:

"Your PC needs to be repaired

The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or

contains errors.

File:  \Windows\system32\config\system

Error code: 0xc000014c

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any

installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC

manufacturer."

The PC on which this problem occurs came with Windows 7 preinstalled and I received a product key for Win 8 Pro from the reseller seperately. I have a recovery cd for Windows 7 but not for Windows 8.

I've tried to run the recovery cd for Win7 but the error persists.

What shall I do?

Thanks in advance

Since you are posting this from a working computer, go to the following link and use the instructions to create recovery media which you can use to repair your installation:
