Registry Error Stop Code 0X00000051

Hello,

My wife opened up her computer yesterday and got the blue screen of death with the following message.

Registry Error:

Stop: 0x00000051 (0X00000001, 8B226008, 0X012CB000, 0X00000368)

We can boot in safe mode. Her operating system is Vista SP2 with Norton security.

OS Version: 6_0_6002

Service Pack 2_0

Product 768_1

We have not installed any hardware in quite some time and to her knowledge she has not installed any software or new drivers recently.

Upon searching the internet I find a variety of details to the first part (Stop 51) but all the numbers after differ so I'm unsure if I have a similar issue.

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot or resolve? I have saved all of her files to an external, so I can reformat if necessary.

thanks!

Brady

So after booting in safe mode i uninstalled all programs that were installed over the last month (firefox update & windows update), i then utilized system restore to the 15th of January. As of right now it seems stable. I've updated windows, firefox, and norton and all appears to be working.
