Original Title: left clicking problems

I am having issues with my mouse recently. The left click isn't working but the right click / scroll are working perfectly fine. I read something and it said it switch the primary and secondary buttons as well as turning on the click-lock. That did nothing for me cause the left click still doesn't work. I can be in a game or just browsing the web but for some reason it isn't working. Is there anything I can do?

    Hi Keith,

    Thanks for your reply.

I suggest you to perform a System Restore and check if it works:

This kind of issue usually happens when the Updates for the devices on the computer is installed. Thus, there is a possibility that this may conflict with/damage the existing device drivers and thus the device might not work as expected. To perform a System Restore, you may refer to the article below and refer the section “Restore your PC to an earlier point in time”:

Important: The System Restore restores the computer back to an earlier point in time, called a restore point. System Restore doesn’t change your personal files, but it might remove recently installed apps and drivers and also reset the recently changed settings on the computer.

Hope this will fix the issue, if not let us know with the updated status and we will be happy to assist you further.

    Hi Keith,

    Thanks for your reply.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if issue persists.

    Method 1: Safe Mode

I suggest you to boot the computer to Safe Mode and check if the issue occurs or not. In Safe Mode computer starts with minimal set of drivers and files.

Refer the article to boot to Safe Mode.

Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)

If the issue do not occur in Safe Mode perform a clean boot and check.

    Method 2: Clean boot

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows **** http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

Note: After clean boot troubleshooting steps, refer to the section "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" in the provided link to return your computer to Normal startup mode.

Hope this will fix the issue, if not let us know with the updated status and we will be happy to assist you further.
