Sudden permissions problems?

Apologies if this is in the wrong category of topics.

This error began occurring seemingly out of nowhere. Perhaps yesterday or the day before, a couple shortcut icons on some programs disappeared, leaving a blank page. I didn't think anything of it. I restored those easily with some research.

Today, however, I went to use some of these affected programs (Excel, Word, Paint Tool Sai, iTunes) and recieved this error: "The item referred to by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permissions." I am the admin on my own computer, so this seems strange. I fixed Excel and Word by going to their locations in C:/ProgramFiles and clicking through the barriers that popped up when trying to access the Microsoft Office folder. I suppose the same will work for iTunes and Sai, but this isn't solving the underlying cause. Also, I just restarted my computer and now Word tells me "Something went wrong" upon opening.

Any clue about what's happening here? I've tried searching the web for answers but it seems no one can explain the cause of these issues I'm experiencing. Is it a virus? Admin issues?

    Hi,

This is a little over my head, but I can think of two possibilities....

Some how you are getting logged in as a GUEST possibly...

OR... Did you recently change to a Microsoft Account ?
