Hi, I interrupted an install of a plugin for Adobe Illustrator for dimensioning drawings because I suspected it was malicious once I opted for the custom install and saw a check box for coupons and deals and other stuff. I tried to cancel the install but wouldn't stop so I reacted by disabling my WiFi connection so it couldn't continue. Then I noticed in control panel that it had installed some sort of PC performance monitor and some application so I uninstalled both. Now very time I boot up and sign-in and land the desktop I get this popup that says:
ShellExecuteExfailed;code1203
[c:\Systems\new\log\code1203.exe]
The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the file code1203 is not currently available. Please try retyping the path or contact Support Immediately... This file may be Damage your Windows, File and Data of your Computer.
Notice the words "This file may be Damage" I deal with programmers in India and this would be a typical way for them to write that. Just saying seems source may be from outside USA or not???
The popup then has an 'OK' button and if you click that it disappears and within a few seconds the popup reappears and loops like this forever...
Then there is another button labeled "Check for solution" once your click that a second popup opens that say:
To report and resolve the error contact the Customer support number at (+1-888-333-9059)
I'm sure you see where this is going... I then Google-d the number and it seems it is a scam number.
I restarted in 'Safe Mode' and downloaded and ran Windows Safety Scanner (Full Scan) but it found no issues. Am I to assume this is a real virus, and do you have any solution to remove it or is it a real windows issue?
Thanks
