Have you ever run the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool?

    Is the computer still infected?

Is the computer currently fully-patched at Windows Update as far as you know?

If I'd known what it was I'd have known where to post it but was lead to this section by google search and the fact I'd seen others saying it only started after an update.

Anyway for anyone else with the problem mine appeared to relate to a corrupted mcafee file/programme.

I started in safe mode and still had the error. i then opened task manager and went around shutting things down until error stopped. I then stopped mcafee opening on restart (as it wouldn't let me shut the .exe in task manager).

My computer then ran fine until I opened outlook as this triggers mcafee to reopen.

Tried turning off in outlook add ins but saying I don't have authority. Just looking for a solution for that but will try and find correct forum!

re the dllhost surrogate infection I right clicked on on the open .exe's and they appeared to be from right location system32.

Have you managed to remove theĀ dllhost.exe *32 COM Surrogate infection now or...?

How have you determined that the computer is no longer infected?

What does any of this have to do with Windows Update?
