Telemetry.dll missing

On opening an Adobe pdf document, I get the error message "AcroRd.exe - System Error...Telemetry.dll is missing...".  If I click on "OK" two or three times, the error message goes away.  I do not know why this is suddenly appearing.  I have been warned off downloading PC fix software so was wondering if there is a fix I can conduct myself (ie foolproof for a novice)?  I use Windows 7 Professional.

Try uninstalling Adobe Reader using "Uninstall or change a program" and then reinstall Adobe Reader using the latest version which can be obtained from the following link (uncheck any unwanted "Optional offers"):

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

Here is some information on the new Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Document Cloud):

Thanks. I only have Acrobat XI on my computer. A friend suggested going to

the program list on the control panel, right clicking on Adobe Acrobat and

choosing the repair option. That seems to have worked. Thanks for your

suggestion.

    Auggy,

I am having this same issue.  Several programs on launch, say that Telemetry.dll is missing.  Reinstalling these programs did not resolve the problem.  Any ideas?

UPDATE:  I found that Malwarebytes, an AV software, popped the Telemetry.dll files as a false positive and quarantined them.  These files were originally from the Microsoft One drive folder, don't know why Adobe uses OneDrive, but I restored these files from the quarantine and the error went away.

    Thank you Auggy...

Your fix worked!  It was also foolproof to implement - even for me.  Many many thanks.

You surmised correctly that I was using Adobe Reader XI.  Adobe normally updates automatically on my machine, so I was not even aware a newer version was available.  Also, I wonder why Adobe didn't initiate a fix themselves - I bet I was not the only one with this problem.

    Anyway - thank you again.
