Hi All,

I'm having issues with windows update on multiple PCs.  The error code that is being displayed is 80070570.  I went ahead and used the automated troubleshooter tool and tried to fix the issue.  One problem did not get fixed which is Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2015-04-15-T-12_12_27P) not fixed...

When I click on view details information for the troubleshooting report is says Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2015-04-15-T-12_12_27P) fixed complete.  It looks like it reset the windows update data store.

I'm currently installing the update right now and it's at 3% complete.  I'm not sure if it will fail half way through.

What's the permanent fix for this issue?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for replying.

We apologize for not being able to address your concern in a timely manner. As you have mentioned that you are going to uninstall your Security software, so you can go ahead and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists, you can try downloading the updates manually from Microsoft Download Center.

a. Visit the Microsoft download website, type the "KB" number of the update in the search box, and press enter.

b. In the list of search results, click on the Knowledge Base (KB) article linkto go to the download page. If there's more than one listing, look for a link that goes to the Microsoft Download Center.

c. If there are multiple versions on the download page, find the appropriate one for your computer. Click on the Download button, and save the update to your desktop.

d. When prompted, click on open to install the update.

Refer to the following link for help:

Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx

Hope it helps. Keep us posted on the status of the issue and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

I went ahead and ran the fix it, windows update reset and performed a clean boot.  The issue still persist.  However, when I went to disable the non-windows services I was not able to disable McAfee.  McAfee was still running.  I am running HIPS, A/V, on this PC.

I suspect mcafee might have something to do with it.  I am going to uninstall mcafee from this pc and see if I'm able to install the window updates.

    Thanks Navneet!

I will try these steps and report back.

Also, is there a way to download the windows update patch directly instead of using the update feature?  Obviously I want the automatic update to work but in the mean time systems need to be patched.  Where can I find the patch?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your concern on Microsoft Community.

I see here that you have put a lot of effort to resolve the issue and I appreciate that. The issue description suggests there might be any third party conflict or some file corruption in windows component.

As you are trying to install the updates again, so you can wait for it to get completed. If the issue persists, then I suggest you to try the following troubleshooting methods and check if it helps:

Method 1: Run the fixit and check.

Refer to the following Microsoft Article:

    Troubleshoot problems with installing updates:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-installing-updates#1TC=windows-7

Method 2: Try resetting the Windows Components.

    Refer to the following article:

How do I reset Windows Update components? :

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

Method 3: Perform a clean boot and then try installing updates

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot. You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality when you perform a clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps.

You may follow the article mentioned to perform a clean boot.

    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you perform clean boot do refer to the section“How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting”to boot the computer in normal mode.

Let us know the status and feel free to reply to us for further assistance.

    We’ll be glad to help.
