Hi,

Thank you for letting us know your concern. This issue can be caused due to the following reasons:

•Pending Windows Update.

•Anti-virus software conflicts.

•Hardware conflicts.

Have you installed all the Windows Updates as discussed above?

To troubleshoot this issue, I would suggest you to try these methods and check if it makes any difference.

Method 1:

Make sure you have installed all the Windows updates offered to your computer such as important as well as optional and unplug all the external devices attached to the computer (for example: printer, web camera).

Once all the important updates are installed successfully, try to install the Windows 8.1 update from Windows Store. If the issue persists, try to reset the Windows Store Cache and check.

Method 2:

To reset the Windows Store Cache.

  • Press the Windows and the X key and select Run option.
  • Type wsreset.exe and press enter.
  • Restart the computer and then go to Windows Store and check if you are able to install Windows 8.1.

If issue persists, try method 3.

Method 3:

If you have installed any third party security software, go ahead and temporarily disable it and then check if the issue persists.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software,

You should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4: I would suggest you to run DISM tool command and then try to upgrade. Please go through the below link:

Hope this information helps. If you have any concerns, let us know.
