Various websites report recalls of Windows updates from time to time.  How can home users best learn about known update problems so as to avoid installing such things?

Hi,

Usually there is an update to the update that may be causing issue, not a recall.

You can check security bulletins

rebecca, in the 15 years that i have been using windows, i only know of one update that was "recalled", where microsoft advised people to uninstall the update, and that was the MS14-045/KB2982791 update, back in august..

while some people have tried to make it sound like there were problems with some of the other updates, my advice would be to go ahead and install all of the updates for windows as they become available and to not worry about their causing problems, which would be highly unlikely..

none of the windows updates have ever caused any problems for me.. have any of them ever caused any problems for you? if you say yes, you must be referring to the KB2982791 update, the only one that microsoft has ever "recalled".. OK, so there was a problem with one update..one out of thousands..and that only affected people who used third-party programs which had installed fonts in a non-typical location..

Maybe not but the update is to correct the problem causing the crash.

Thank you.  I will sign up so that I can determine which updates to avoid.  I must say, however, that if an update causes a crash, it's not that helpful to have an update to the update.
