I ran CCleaner on my Windows 7 Home Premium and got these codes in the .txt report file of registry errors:

Missing TypeLib Reference    IBrowserWndAPI - {9C049BA6-EA47-4AC3-AED6-A66D8DC9E1D8}    HKCR\Interface{03E2A1F3-4402-4121-8B35-733216D61217}

Missing TypeLib Reference    IState - {A0869B2C-C907-4DCA-A72B-6D54C1E1B1A2}    HKCR\Interface{0C9DFDC5-186E-44BA-AB13-9076500EC7EC}

Missing TypeLib Reference    IPugiObj - {9C049BA6-EA47-4AC3-AED6-A66D8DC9E1D8}    HKCR\Interface{9E3B11F6-4179-4603-A71B-A55F4BCB0BEC}

Does anyone know what they are referring to and whether or not I should delete them?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

eaglecap

    Frederick,

    Thanks for your response. Well then, are there any reliable PC cleaners/optimizers  out there? I'd still like to know what those TyoeLibReference messages refer to.

    There aren't any reliable registry cleaners/optimiziers for the simple reason that the registry does not need cleaning or optimizing. Over time it can easily acquire some minor flaws, e.g. because some uninstallation program fails to remove all registry keys it owns. This makes no difference to your PC's performance, same as having a few freckles makes no difference to your running speed. You could, of course, remove them surgically but why would you take the risk?

    When you have a registry problem then Windows will inform you in no uncertain terms.

    I'd suggest you try the steps in the following link:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7

    There are various third party tools that can optimize the PC, but you can view the reviews before trying.

    CCleaner is great at raising lots of irrelevant error messages in order to impress the user. Other than that it does nothing useful (if you're lucky) but a lot of damage (if you're not so lucky). Experienced sysadmins strongly recommend against using the registry "cleaning" function of CLeaner.

    You should ask yourself: Did you actually notice anything wrong with Windows or is it a case of getting a warm feeling while allowing CCleaner to run wild in the odd 500,000 keys (and many more values) found in a typical Windows 7 registry?
