In device manager is following error: Device: I2C Controller Device status: Can't run this device(code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed. I tried restart, update driver and system update but it didn't helped. In system properties is displayed in pen and touch: No touch or pen input. Hi Adam,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

  1. Did you make any recent software or hardware changes on your computer?
  2. What is the exact make and model of Lenovo laptop?

This Issue might occur due to settings and corrupted drivers, let’s try the following and check if it fixes the issue.

Method 1:

Please check Windows Update to make sure that you have downloaded and installed all of the latest updates, including optional updates, this might fix the issue by updating the Touch screen drive. Refer to the following steps.

a. At the Start screen, type Windows Update.

b. Click or tap Settings on the right side of the screen, and then select Install optional updates from the left results.

c. When the Windows Update control panel opens, click on “Check for Updates” on the top left corner to receive a fresh list of updates.

Method 2:

Let's run the hardware troubleshooter and check if that helps. Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

a) Press the ‘Windows + w’ and type **‘troubleshooting’**in the search and press enter.

b) Click on ‘Hardware and Sound’ and select ‘Hardware and Devices’ and click on ‘next’ to run the troubleshooter.

Method 3:

I will suggest you to try and update the touch screen drivers and check for the resolution.

You may follow the steps:

  1. Press Windows key and X on your desktop and click on Device Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
  3. Locate the Touch screen driver.
  4. Right-click on the driver icon and click on Update Driver Software.
  5. Click on Search automatically for the updated driver software.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the touchpad driver.

Method 4:

Uninstall, reinstall the driver and check the issue status.

Refer this article: Download and install drivers.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/all-drivers

If Windows Update can't find a driver for your device, contact the device manufacturer's website, or insert the disc that came with the device, and then follow the instructions for installing the software.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to install the driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Let's download and install the Touch screen drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if that helps.

What is program compatibility?
