Mouse and keyboard input not working after windows 10 upgrade from windows 7.
I upgraded to the window 10 tech preview from windows 7 and now my mouse and keyboard dont work once the os loads up and brings me to the sign in screen. I cant even roll back to windows 7 now because I have no mouse input except for when the bios splash screen is showing. Any help would be amazing thank you.

2016-06-28T17:20:09+00:00 I may have solved the problem... at least for now.
I downloaded the Windows 10 upgrade ISO image from Microsoft on a working PC and burned an install DVD.
I started my PC with locked-out USB ports with the DVD I just burned. Some patience is required, as the boot-up just sits at the cyan colored logo for a few minutes without any whirling circle of dots to indicate anything is happening.
When the installer launches, select your language, then next. On the next screen choose Repair My Computer. Choose advanced options. Choose Restore an earlier configuration. When System Restore launched, no restore points were shown, so I clicked Show more restore points. One point labeled Direct X Installed was displayed, so I selected that and continued. Restore showed a moving progress bar for a few minutes and then displayed a modal dialog saying an unknown error occurred and my files were not changed.
Out of curiosity, I rebooted Win10, and the mouse and keyboard were working again!
In Windows 10, I checked the device manager and found two Generic USB hubs listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Under the Power Management tab of Properties for the hubs, I removed the X mark from the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
I have my fingers crossed that this was the issue.

2016-06-28T20:33:13+00:00 At least a couple of us were able to solve this ASUS MB related problem by removing a little ASUS utility. This is what I posted back in January, maybe it will help you:
For those of you with ASUS motherboards the problem with the Windows 10 upgrade causing your once working USB ports to stop working has nothing to do with the USB drivers and everything to do with a little ASUS utility that is part of their AI Suite II called "AI Charger+". Its purpose is to boost the power to the USB ports so your devices (iPads etc.) can charge faster. It turns out THIS app is the culprit. If you remove it your USB ports will work and you'll finally be able to login to your new Windows 10 system.
You remove the app by first selecting to uninstall the AI Suite II software. This will bring up a dialog with a list of all the AI Suite II apps. You ONLY need to select the AI Charger+ to be removed.
You can either remove the AI Charger+ app before you do the upgrade, or after a roll-back to the previous OS - or remove the app from Windows 10 via a remote access program like Teamviewer. After the app is removed, reboot and watch you keyboard led light up!
This solution worked for me on my Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard - none of the USB ports worked so no keyboard and mouse to login to Windows 10. It seems there is just one guy in the entire Internet that knew the solution and I found it on TenForums.com. http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/10414-ubs2-ubs3-host-controller-code48-after-first-reboot-2.html?s=b47c640c4d1f35917934676a826e6344#post355637
A note to Microsoft: this app should be flagged as NOT compatible and removed automatically or the installer should tell the user to remove it manually PRIOR to the upgrade.

2016-06-28T20:41:45+00:00 Thanks I'll try.
Wonder if anyone has reported this to ASUS.
I have an open support ticket with them, I'll copy the details into it.
I have removed the AI Charger+ will try upgrade again tomorrow

2016-06-28T21:15:43+00:00 thanks Gary i will try this also to see if it works
this new update has been a nightmare for me.
so far ive had to reset my system twice in about a week. i reset the first time when I had this keyboard & mouse error & it ran fine again, but only 1 day later it tried to update (the cumulative Win10 update). every day it tried to update but then failed & undid any changes. this lasted about a week until it finally succeeded.
after the update my keyboard & mouse still worked, although this time i was getting a black screen after logging in - was still able to use ctrl+alt+delete. tried going in safe mode - but then the mouse & keyboard wouldn't work - tried all the solutions i could find, nothing worked. tried resetting to a restore point i had just made - but that failed once again too.
so now i've just reset 2 days ago & once again last night it is trying to do the update again - even though i selected defer updates, tried to schedule the update for 1 week from now, it doesn't stop it from happening.
