Windows update error 80248008

Hello,

My laptop runs on Windows 7 and for a while Windows Update fails to update.

Whenever I attempt to update i get the error code 80248008.

I have looked online for solutions and one of these suggested running Microsoft Fix It.

After installation I however get the message that troubleshooters could not be downloaded and that I should check my internetconnection.

I did not manage to find a solution to this problem so I looked for other solutions to my initial problem.

Further searching suggested looking whether BITS is running and indeed this was not the case.

When I attempt to manually start BITS i again get an error, 1053.

Looking further into this i came to the following webpage (which deals with windows 8, not 7!!)

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_update/windows-update-service-does-not-start-error-1053/ca6a4d46-4c13-4a74-a37a-77ac7243b89d :

I followed this guide up untill method 2 but my problem seems to differ at this point from the poster of the question.

Any help resolving my problem would be much appreciated

After finding a post of someone with the same problem with BITS i performed what was suggested by the support, downloading the BITS registry file and run it. This led to an error (translated from dutch):

"Couldnt import bits-service-for-7-8-vista.reg: not all data has ben written to the registry. Some keys are used by the system or other processes".

When i tried running BITS afterwards in services i got error 1290 stating that the service cant be started as one or more services in the same process have incompatible setting for the service-type.

I dont know if i solved part of the problem now or worsened it so i wont do anything else till I get a reply.
