Hi, I have a Lenovo laptop running windows 8, recently the wifi stopped working and upon investigation it would appear that the LAN has stopped too.  When i run IPCONFIG no information is displayed.  I've tried the usual Winsock and INT IP reset commands but still no joy.  Tried static IP settings but they don't hold/display. Looks like the IP stack is totally screwed! what else can i try?  HELP!!!

Question:  Why haven't you updated to Windows 8.1?

Yes, a reinstall may be the answer.

I've uninstalled both adapters, using the lenovo software, reboot, then reinstalled each adapter at a time - testing after installation - still no joy.  It's as though the system isn't trying to look on the connection, as as soon as the lan cable is plugged in the icon in the bottom right comes straight up as Limited Connection (Yellow exclamation), it doesn't circle round as you would expect when the cable is first plugged in.

I've set static IP as per my internal LAN, but the settings don's show when i run IPConfig:

    c:\users\notsure\ipconfig

    Windows IP Configuration

    c:\users\notsure\ipconfig

    or:

    c:\users\notsure\ipconfig /all

    Host Name.......................: Home

    Primary DNS Suffix.........:

    Node Type........................: Hybrid

    IP Routing Enabled.........: No

    WINS Proxy Enabled......: No

Maybe a reinstall of Windows 8 is the only option!

Have you tried uninstalling the driver, reboot and let Windows reinstall?

Do you know your IP address?  If not, contact your ISP provider.

    1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Network.
    2. On the Configuration tab, double-click either TCP/IP or "TCP/IP-><network adapter>," where <network adapter> is the name of your network adapter.
    3. On the IP Address tab, type a valid IP address in the IP Address box, and then click OK. If you do not know a valid IP address for your computer, contact your network administrator.
    4. Click OK, and then click OK.

How do I fix network adapter problems?

    Thanks, tried that command and:

    netsh winsock reset catalog

neither make any difference, also tried safe-mode incase a rogue program was causing issues - still no IP settings.  Have uninstalled an old version of AVG, ran malwarebytes - laptop is clean.  At a dead-end now!
