Getting error code 0x8004242 while partitioning or while formatting the drive.

Original Title: Windows installation 

I have a lenovo G580 i5 3rd gen laptop. When I try to format it with windows8 the error code 0x8004242 is showed and i could neither partition my drive nor could format it. Is this a problem of the harddisk or any software issue? Pls help me with this !!!!!!!!

As per the description provided, it looks like you are having issues with Error code 0x8004242 while Installing Windows 8.

The error 0x8004242 translates to "CRC Error" which means that the files that are being copied from the disk are not making it to the hard drive with the same structure, meaning that the "original" files on the disk are being modified/changed/corrupted while being copied to the "destination" location on your hard drive during the install.

This usually means either a bad DVD, or a read error on the DVD drive.

I would suggest you to create a bootable USB(Universal Serial Bus) discand install Windows 8 with the newly created bootable USB.
