Windows media player shuffle function doesn't work as songs repeat for two track

I run windows 7 and have used Media player as my default player since using a computer about ten years ago, I find that it does all I want (generally), however, recently when I open it and invariably set it to play a playlist, if it is on shuffle, it seems to alternate between two songs, I then have to manually go to click onto another track which for some reason seems to sort it. Any ideas please? Martin.

Hi Martin,

You may need to rebuild the Windows Media player library database.

Here is how:

   a. Exit Windows Media Player.

   b. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

   c. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

       Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

   d. Restart Windows Media Player.
