I want to delete a system image from my hard disc. I have found the following advice:

Click Start -> Search: Backup -> Open "Backup and Restore" -> Click "Manage Space" -> Delete

Unfortunately when I do this there is no "Manage Space" option. I am using Windows 7..

Any advice?

You get this display under one of the following conditions:

  • No backup was ever performed on this machine.
  • The image backup you wish to delete was created on a different machine.
  • Someone deleted the backup catalogs from the folder C:\System Volume Information.

You now need to delete the image files manually.

Unfortunately when I do this there is no "Manage Space" option.

Please use snippingtool.exe to create a snapshot of Backup and Restore, same as the one below, then attach it to your reply so that we can see what you see.
