Abhishek,

Suggesting the wrong answer twice does not help.  Anyone familiar with the MS email program knows that the error message is coming from the MS email program.  The answer is to reset the folder list, but it is hidden, no easy help to get there and your answer just confuses the issue even further.  I chose to right click the account name in the folder list, not the actual folder.  I then chose Show or Hide folders and clicked on Reset List.  Fixed it exactly one second.  Less time than it took to read one of your wrong answers.

Click on the account name in the folder pane to select it, then press Alt-S F to open the Show/hide IMAP folders dialogue. You'll see the Reset List button there.

Worked like a dream, but... I had made folders for 'Income Tax' (emailed receipts) 'Isabel' contained emails about family history/genealogy as well as a few others. After the reset, all these folders had disappeared! Is there any way to get them back? Where did they go?

    Cheers,  Helen

    Thanks for the reply.

I still get an error message when I try to select that folder. The message says could not select "family" on the IMAP server. Try updating the folder on the IMAP server.

The details of the error follow.

    Configuration:

       Account: Gmail (nedolan)

       Server: imap.gmail.com

       User name: nedolan

       Protocol: IMAP

       Port: 993

       Secure(SSL): 1

       Code: 800cccd2

So it won't let me select the folder in the list of folders to reset it. I can select the other folders.
