OT: "Multiple updates not installing" Solved.

I have been trying to install updates but many of them won't complete their installation or even seem to start it.  They give me a 8024000b error, and say a security issue is stopping the installation.  I'm using windows 8 and updating from the settings app.

The updates which wont install are all security updates for Windows 8.1, updates for Windows 8.1, .Net framework, Windows Defender, IE, and multiple other programs.

I've done what this page says and nothing has changed- http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-update-error-8024000b#1TC=windows-7

Solved: I downloaded the Automatic Troubleshooter and then used the went to Windows Updates in control panel instead of the setting app and the download/install worked.

Method 1:

Let's try running the Windows Update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Troubleshoot problems with installing updates

Method 2: Clean boot

Place the computer in clean boot and check for the issue.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Note: Once you are done with clean boot, please follow the section ‘How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot’ under ‘more information’ in the article to put your computer back to normal startup.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to manually download the latest definition updates for Windows Defender. ****
