Hi Waffle Punk,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Sorry to know that you are facing this issue. I understand that it must be difficult for you when things do not work as expected.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  • Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
  • Have you installed all pending Windows Updates and updated all device drivers?
  • Which keys do not function on the keyboard?
  • In the Device Manager, do you see a yellow exclamation mark?
  • What is the error message in the Device Manager for USB Composite device?

This issue might occur due to incompatible or outdated drivers and missing updates.

Ensure that the USB mouse and keyboard is plugged in to the computer and then run the hardware troubleshooter. Once this is done restart the computer and check the status.

Follow these steps:

  • Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
  • Type troubleshooting in the search box and then press enter.
  • Click hardware and sound and run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
  • Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status.

Further, ensure that the device drivers are updated and all pending Windows Updates are installed.

Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install. If need be then you need to download the latest and compatible drivers from the manufacturer’s website to install the driver.
